Shilat is a PhD-MBA student in the biotechnology program at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. In her PhD, she studies the molecular mechanisms underlying oocyte development. Her research focuses on the zygotene cilium, its structure and components, with the broader goal of understanding developmental and reproductive biology. By integrating molecular biology techniques with advanced imaging methods, she aims to contribute to a deeper understanding of oogenesis and embryonic development. As an MBA student, she is interested in bridging the gap between scientific discovery and the biotech industry, exploring ways to translate cutting-edge research into real-world applications.
Beyond her research, Shilat is deeply committed to science education. She has worked with Belmonte, The Hebrew University for Youth, and continues to volunteer with the Sadara pre-university program for East Jerusalem students, fostering curiosity and scientific thinking in the next generation.
If she’s not at the lab bench, you’ll likely find Shilat at her goldsmith bench at home, crafting jewellery, on a quest for a new vinyl record, or traveling with her husband, Marc, and their dog, Kelevi.
